Over the past several months, HSI has introduced several programs to help people lead better and more fulfilling Christian lives. Extremely successful is HSI's Discipleship Program, which is aimed at bringing people closer to God and to one another by becoming true disciples of Christ. Based on the life stories of people living in today's world who have succeeded in leading lives pleasing to God on a constant basis, the HSI Discipleship Program has already helped hundreds of people in several countries across the world.
The Program is conducted on a parish level, with the approval of the clergy. If you would like to host the Discipleship Program in your community, please speak to your parish priest and/or bishop. In addition to the above, here are some details that you might wish to share with them:
What is the duration of the Program?
Discipleship is an ongoing journey that never ends. But this Program, that empowers you to get started on the journey, is for approximately 8 hours, spread out over variable periods depending on the time available. We recommend holding it over three evenings, but if time does not permit, it is also possible to have it over one single day with short intervals between talks.
What topics does the Program cover?
The HSI Discipleship program looks at some of the most important aspects of the Christian life like repentance, sin, temptation, love, forgiveness, surrender and faith. These might seem basic subjects to many, but the ignorance among Christians of even these "basic" subjects is appalling. All subjects refer to Scripture, which is used as the basis for all teachings. Prayer is integral to all teaching and precedes and follows the lessons. The prayers are unlike anything you have experienced before and are a lesson in itself. The Program concludes with some hard hitting lessons on what Discipleship truly is and the price that one has to pay for being a Disciple, and is followed by an invitation to become a Disciple—an invitation few refuse.
Those who accept the invitation may be further invited to join the School of Discipleship, which is a six month Program that helps people continue on this journey.
How much does it cost?
Jesus said, "Freely you have received, freely give" (Mt. 10:8). The course is absolutely free and there is no charge to present it.
Who conducts the Program?
The Discipleship Program is led by Aneel Aranha, founder of Holy Spirit Interactive and of the various ministries under the HSI banner. He is the author of numerous articles and four books, including the inspirational "School of the Holy Spirit." Samples of his writing can be found under his column on the HSI web site. He is a respected preacher and retreat leader who travels widely preaching the Good News. When he isn't on the road, he teaches Scripture, disciples people and mentors prayer groups - among several other things.
